Retired Ossining Police Sergeant Richard Parthemore Sr. died in Florida on Monday morning, Jan. 29, the department announced on social media.

Parthemore joined the Village of Ossining Police Department in 1968 and dedicated himself to serving his community until he retired from the Town of Ossining Police Department decades later in 1988.

Serving Ossining ran in Parthemore's family, as his brother, Jeffery, and son, Richard Parthemore Jr., both served with the Village of Ossining Police Department as well, the department said.

In their post on social media, the department wrote that Parthemore was a "vigilant officer for our community, a trusted sergeant to his subordinates, a steadfast patriarch to his family, and a beloved ‘Vava’ to his grandchildren."

"Sgt. Parthemore will be missed by many, but his positive influence on the community will be felt for many years to come," the department continued.

Funeral arrangements for Parthemore have not yet been released.
